Ring Size Guide
Finding your ring size takes about two minutes at home — or pop into our Dungarvan store and we'll measure it for you, free of charge.
Measure a ring you already own
Pick a ring that fits the correct finger comfortably. Place it on a ruler and measure straight across the inside of the band, from edge to edge.
That measurement is your inner diameter — find it in the size chart below.
Measure your finger
Cut a thin strip of paper, about 10 cm long.
Wrap it around the base of your finger — snug, but not tight. It should slide over your knuckle.
Mark where the paper overlaps.
Lay it flat and measure to the mark in millimetres. That's your inner circumference.
Now find your measurement in the chart below.

We use UK and Irish sizes (letters). If you've measured in millimetres, match your measurement to the closest row — if you're between two sizes, choose the larger one.

Five things that change your size
Time of day. Fingers are smallest in the morning and largest in the evening. Measure two or three times across a day.
Temperature. Cold hands measure smaller. Don't size up straight after being outside.
Between sizes? Always go up, not down.
Wide bands sit tighter. For a band 6 mm or wider, go up by half a size.
Mind the knuckle. The ring has to pass over it — if your knuckle is larger, size to the knuckle, not the base.
Buying a surprise?
If you're planning a proposal, you don't have to ask.
Borrow a ring she wears on that finger and measure the inside diameter — or press it into a bar of soap and bring us the impression.
Check the right hand. Engagement rings go on the left ring finger, and hands differ by up to half a size.
Ask someone close to her. A sister or a friend often knows.
Average sizes are a last resort. The most common women's size in Ireland is around UK N — but it's a guess, not a measurement.

Frequently asked questions
What's the most common ring size?
For women it's usually around UK N, and for men around UK T. These are averages, not a substitute for measuring.
Should I size up for a wide band?
Yes. A band of 6 mm or more sits tighter on the finger — go up by half a size.
Can you resize a ring I bought from you?
In most cases, yes — we do resizing in our own workshop. Eternity rings, engraved rings and some materials can't be resized.
What if I order the wrong size?
Get in touch and we'll sort it out. Call in or message us with your order number and we'll talk through resizing or an exchange — we'd rather you had a ring that fits.

Do UK and Irish ring sizes differ?
No — Ireland uses the same letter system as the UK, so the sizes on this page apply to both.
